Jordan Billard can be identified as many things – a coach, a trainer, a leader, but most significantly an entrepreneur. She has devoted the majority of her life to identifying opportunities in the sports industry and successfully developing these opportunities into viable businesses relying on her astuteness to detail and skill for competent, effective delivery. Her primary goal has always been to assist others in developing and maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle.
Jordan grew up with athletics in her blood and was continuously active in a number of sports including gymnastics, track and field, basketball, volleyball, cross country running, and figure skating. Her passion was to skate and at the late age of 10 she took on the sport at a competitive level in both singles and ice dance. Through her skating career, she achieved the highest standards in singles freeskate, skating skills, and ice dance. She was also named to Junior Development team for Singles. Throughout this time, Jordan became certified to teach skating and worked with local children to develop their skating skills.
Teaching came naturally to Jordan and she knew from an early age that it was something she wanted to pursue as a lifelong career. Due to a training accident, which resulted in a severe injury, Jordan could no longer skate competitively. She turned her focus to a new sport – snowboarding – but her passion for the ice never left. This new interest in snowboarding allowed her to become certified to teach the sport and she worked for the Intrawest Corporation in both Quebec and British Columbia. Competitive sport allowed Jordan to develop strategies for time management, and effective leadership skills
During this period, Jordan had taken an interest in fitness training and group teaching. Her mother and grandmother owned a fitness facility, and she grew in the training environment. She loved the energy and the teaching aspect of the industry, so at the age of 16, she became one of the youngest individuals in Canadian Fitness Professionals history, to become a certified Group Fitness Trainer. She taught a number of styles of group fitness, and took on an assistant management role with a local gym at the age 17 while training competitively and attending secondary school as an honour role student. This heavy load allowed Jordan to recognize the importance of goal setting and time management skills.
Jordan continued to work both privately and corporately while attending the University of Western Ontario, where she earned a Bachelor of Health Science. During this time, she continued to develop and improve her knowledge of sport conditioning. This allowed her to modify her skills into developing a unique style of training that combines functional training, core strengthening, traditional strength training and yoga.
Her experiences have allowed her to work and train across Canada in both the private, corporate and government sectors. Previous employers include the Bentall Corporation, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Intrawest Corporation, GoodLife Fitness Corporation, and London Knights Hockey Organization.
Jordan's unique style of training and entrepreneurial spirit motivated her start her own company, Edge Performance Conditioning Inc. while working on her degree. Edge Performance Conditioning Inc. allowed her the freedom to work with the clientele she desired as well as the quality control that she felt was lacking with other corporate fitness companies.
